Look to the Character.

In selecting men for office, let principle be your guide. Regard not the particular sect or denomination of the candidate—look to his character.-- Noah Webster

It is now only 14 days to we elect a new president for the United States of America. As Noah Webster told us, we should let principle be our guide and look to the character of the candidate. The character of the candidate, the character of the man. Noah Webster believed we should not regard the denomination, but focus on the character.

What type of character does Sen. Obama exhibit? What type of character does Sen. McCain exhibit? Do your due diligence, do your research...seek the character of the man. The character of the man who will lead our nation, and serve in it's highest office. Would you consider a man to be of high character who associated himself with a known terrorist? A terrorist who stomped the American Flag underfoot, and said guilty as charged. Would you call this man friend? What is the character of a man who would associate with this terrorist? Sen. Obama's character speaks for him, if you will only research his life.

I believe John McCain has proved himself as an American, a Statesman, and a Patriot. His life is living proof of how much he loves this country, and the sacrifices that he is willing to make. Sen. McCain has continued to serve his country, with dedication and passion. I don't believe you can find anywhere, at any time, in his life where he has associated with a known terrorist. Sen. McCain has always stood, and stood against terrorism. A true American Hero, and a true leader.

Consider the character.

Spreading the Wealth

I was recently watching Mike Huckabee on the FOX Network, when he had Joe The Plumber as one of his guest. Gov. Huckabee, during the interview, replayed the video of Joe asking Sen. Obama his question about "taxing small businesses". The plumber asked Sen. Obama: "Your new tax plan is going to tax me more, isn't it?" Joe the plumber proceeded to tell the senator that he worked hard as a plumber, and that he was planning on buying a plumbing company. He also told him that he was getting taxed more and more while fulfilling the "American Dream".

Obama in answering Joe, told him that the higher taxes he (Joe) would pay would be good for society. "My attitude is that if the economy's good for the folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody...I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."

I believe that Obama's recent "blunder", in admitting to a policy of spreading the wealth of people like plumbers, really tells us what he believes about economics. Please consider the Obama economic policy for a moment, and you too will realize that his policies on taxes, regulation and redistribution of wealth are able to be summarized in only two words--Marxism and Socialism. This latest blunder, has revealed that Obama seeks to re-make America in the fashion of socialist countries.

If we review Obama's comments in speaking to Joe The Plumber, I believe we will find that no one is safe, including those who work 10-12 hours a day trying to have a piece of the "American Dream". Who are those that Sen. Obama would redistribute the wealth to? Who are those he feels should have more, at the expense of those trying to work harder and be successful? I don't know about you, but I can't help but feel that if I have earned it, then it is mine.

The T-Shirt

New Smyrna Beach Middle School, New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

A young middle school girl called racist by her classmates for wearing a pro-Sarah Palin t-Shirt.

This young girl was volunteering at the Republican Headquarters in New Smyrna Beach, Florida and the t-shirt was a gift from her fellow volunteers. She wore it to school, and was called a "racist" by fellow classmates. Ashleigh Jones said that some of her classmates were saying she was a racist because she wanted the Caucasian to win.

The t-shirt was a simple pink t-shirt, with "McCain - Palin 2008" on the back of the shirt.

Young Ashleigh Jones told her classmates that she was not a racist, that it was her opinion only and a matter of free speech. If young middle school students feel it is racist to want to vote for McCain - Palin, because you are voting for a caucasian, does this also spill over into those who will be actually voting?

I believe the election of our president should be based on his qualifications and ability to lead our nation, not the color of his skin. I too, am a "McCain - Palin" supporter, but not because John McCain is a caucasian. I support him because I believe he is the best qualified to lead our country, and serve as President. If you choose to vote for Mr. Obama or for Mr. McCain, do so for your belief in their ability to lead our nation, not because of race. Let's look well to our ballot, and cast our vote for the candidate who will serve the United States Of America and it's people without regard to self. I would ask that you vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin.

A New Look And A New Beginning

I asked my beautiful wife if she would take my "old" blog design and give me a new one, reflecting the mountains where I grew up. The Smoky Mountains of North Carolina have to be some of the most beautiful places on earth, and when I see them, I am quickly drawn back to my childhood there. I miss the mountains more now than I ever I guess, maybe because after being gone for so long, I can truly appreciate their wonder. Thank you sweetheart, for a tremendous blog. You continue to amaze me with your talent, you are the best.
